What is TACA?
TACA, the Tennessee Association of Craft Artists, presents a common voice for the many-faceted field of fine craft in Tennessee. TACA is a professional organization with high standards, committed to encouraging creativity and nurturing craft excellence statewide.
The MISSION of the Tennessee Association of Craft Artists is to encourage, develop and promote crafts and craftspeople of TENNESSEE. Membership in the statewide, independent nonprofit is open to anyone with an interest in craft. Founded in 1965, TACA encourages membership of students, educators, hobbyists, collectors, gallery directors, friends, enthusiasts, curators, the curious, and of course, the craft artists.
TACA is best known for its craft fairs, each of which attracts more than 40,000 visitors annually. In addition to helping sustain the careers of Tennessee craft artists, the juried fairs provide an opportunity to learn about finely crafted objects and the artists who create them. Demonstrations of craft techniques inform collectors and inspire aspiring craft makers. Above all, the fairs provide an occasion each spring and fall to celebrate the work of the hand and the creativity of the human spirit.
